From June 2022, an EU Member State consortium consisting of Spain (Lead Member State) and Germany (Junior Member State) is implementing the Twinning project “Support for the Institutional Strategic Plan of the Dominican Republic’s Judiciary, Visión Justicia 2020-24”.

Within its 24 months implementation period, the project aims to increase the efficiency, quality and integrity of the judicial services offered by the Dominican Judiciary. It focuses on three specific areas: First, establishment of a comprehensive and clear management model, including homogeneous documented processes and quality indicators. Second, improvement of the quality and satisfaction in user services, e.g., by reinforcing digital channels. Third, reinforcement of judicial integrity by reviewing disciplinary regulations and strengthening the control system.

During the project, Spanish and German legal experts will collaborate with their peers from the beneficiary administration, the Judiciary of the Dominican Republic. On the German side, under the umbrella of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, judges from several regional courts, legal experts from federal and state level as well as IT experts from the Federal Center for Information Technology (ITZ Bund) participate.,. On the Spanish side, the Spanish General Council of the Judiciary, the Spanish Ministry of Justice, and the Spanish General Public Prosecutor’s Office also participate in the project.

The German Member State Partner is supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in all administrative and financial matters of this project.
