With the Twinning Light project: “Support to the Revenue and Customs Administration for ensuring efficient and effective customs controls at borders”, Germany is supporting the Revenue and Customs Administration of Montenegro through training and improving the capacities of the training and monitoring of professional education department. The project is implemented by the German Central Customs Authority (GZD). 

The overall objective of this Twinning light project is to contribute to the accomplishment of the goals of the Government of Montenegro related to security of its borders and implementation of trade facilitation measures.

The purpose of this project is to strengthen the capacities of Revenue and Customs Administration of Montenegro especially in the area of fight against smuggling, aimed at protection of financial and security interests of Montenegro and its citizens, as well as the EU interests in the future.

The project is expected to have significant benefits for Montenegro. First, the Twinning project will support Montenegro’s approximation to the EU by strengthening enforcement in the customs sector. Second, it will boost the RCA’s capacities to prevent illegal trade. Third, it will encourage investment in Montenegro as an effective customs administration helps facilitate legitimate trade and minimizes supply chain risks.

The implementation of the project is supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
